Daenerys Dragon Egg Nails

So, on Friday night Masha, from Lost in Lacquer and I decided to do Dragon egg nails! I know this isn’t part of the challenge, but I had to show all of you! These were inspired by the show Game of Thrones on HBO; based on the Daenerys Targaryen’s dragon eggs. The idea came from Candy Glaze's dragon egg tutorial. Mine aren’t nearly as good as her’s, but I think they’re alright for a first attempt!

Now I decided to not do the actual color of her eggs, but my own take on it. I began with painting my nails with China Glaze Hook and Line and then covering them with OPI DS Extravagance. Quickly using a small dotting tool I engraved the scale design. This was tough and I had to re-do a couple because if the polish dried then the tool would pull it right off. I finished by sponging on some more Hook and Line for the texture on the egg. I opted not to use top coat, unlike the tutorial, because it took away the cool textured effect.
The Egg in the picture belongs to Masha’s mom; it is an awesome paper-weight that came with the Game of Throne’s DVD set.
Here is a picture from the series of Daenerys’s chest of dragon eggs.

So after we were done painting our nails we had a little fun taking pictures of the egg in various places around her house. We found that the egg is quite photogenic and had a good laugh doing it!!

Dark Side of the Moon

Hey all I'm back! Again :O... haha, I dd disappear again briefly, guess life just got away from me!! Even though I'm way off I refuse to give up on this challenge. I did the rainbow day challenge, took pics, wore it for a day or two, and just didn't like it as much as I thought I would. That's when I thought about doing the cover of Pink Floyd's dark side the moon album on my nails. Coincidentally Just after I did this I was at Jo's house, from Just Add Polish, and she was doing the same type of mani for inspired by a song day. Cool right? I guess great minds think alike! Sorry again for taking so long to post it, here you go!

I'm also sorry the pics don't have the best angle, by the time I realized just how bad the others came out I wasn't wearing the mani anymore. I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as the base, and here are the colors on top:

Black: Venique Dominating Thigh Highs
Red: Zoya Gia
Orange: Zoya Arizona
Yellow: Zoya Pippa
Green: Ciate Mojito
Blue: Essence Let's Get Lost
Purple: Venique Biker Couture

For the pinky I used a home-made decal. If you'd like to see How to do that you can check out my friend Masha's decal tutorial or see her whole blog at Lost in Lacquer

Here's the album cover that inspired this manicure. Overall I think I like Jo's  nails a little more, but I like how mine turned out too :). Maybe next time I'll try her way!!

For those of you just a little curious here's what my nails were before I decided to go in a different direction:

Kinda reminds me of kindergarten ^^.

Also, make sure you check out Masha's blog for her fantastic Enchanted polish Giveaway!! And I'll be doing my own when I'm done with this challenge so tuned!

Sorry for the long post, and don't worry, I already have a couple more lined up for the next couple days!

Metallic Abstract

For this day the challenge called for a metallic mani. When I first started I had a TOTALLY different idea in mind; Some kind of metallic gradient with dots on the end. After I finished and looked at it I just didn't like it at all. So I started from scratch. Instead of that fiasco I decided to endeavor into the world of stamping. Somehow I'm just no good at it, haha, but with my friend Masha's help and expertise I think I'm slowly getting better. You can actually tell from index finger to pinky as the image becomes more clear. So, here's my Metallic abstract, hopefully with more practice my stamping abilities will become better and better!

The blue base in this pic is Purple Rain by JLB Cosmetics; it definitely looks more purple in the bottle than on your nails, and these pics make the blue stand out even more. It's such a shimmery metallic; working a lab I think I washed my hands 50 times today and there's still some residue. The black I a black Konad stamping polish using Konad stamping plate m65 and then Zoya Ziv for the dots.

This may not be the best mani I've ever done but I really enjoyed wearing it today!
